Thursday Book Challenge - Week 8!

Okay, I've done a lot of reading since the last time I wrote a blog post about reading, but because I don't want to bore you with all the books I've read I am just going to tell you about the ones I really enjoyed!

So first up is The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, I wanted to re-read these books before I went to see the movie! And I had to say that even the second time they are really good! So was the movie, but that's another topic :)

And now I'm reading Contagion by Robin Cook which is the second in his Jack and Laurie series! It's really good and I'm loving it so far! This is what it says about it on Robin Cook's site:

After he loses first his Midwestern ophthalmology practice to a for-profit medical giant and then his family to a commuter airline tragedy, Dr. John Stapleton's life is transformed to ashes. Feeling less the golden boy than a jaded cynic, Stapleton retrains in forensic pathology and relocates to find an uneasy niche for himself in a city that suits his changed perspective: the cold, indifferent, concrete maze of New York.
Stapleton thinks he is past pain and past caring, but as a series of virulent and extremely lethal illnesses—capped by a particularly deadly outbreak of a rare strain of influenza—strikes the young, the old, and the innocent, his suspicions are aroused. When the apparent epicenters of these outbreaks are revealed to be hospitals and clinics controlled by the same for-profit giant that cannibalized his old ophthalmology practice, Stapleton fears he has stumbled upon a diabolic conspiracy of catastrophic proportions: Could the for-profit giant be engaged in the systematic elimination of its more costly subscribers?
Getting at the truth leads to Stapleton's unlikely pairing—both professionally and personally—with Terese Hagen, an art director at a hot Madison Avenue advertising firm. Together they discover that the real explanation behind the killer contagions is even more Machiavellian than could be imagined.

So yeah, that's it! Head on over to An Accidental Knitter to check out what every one else is reading! Hope you have a good day/night/evening. Thanks for reading! Cya next week!

Bakin' Butterflies

Hey :) I have something other than what I'm reading for you this week! Unfortunately it's still not something crafty as I still haven't really felt like doing any cross stitching or finishing off the piece of knitting I was doing. Anyhow, at least it's not books.

So, on Sunday I bought this new magazine called Cake Decorating, (you can find the website for it here) it was 99p and came with a cupcake stand, 2 butterfly cookie cutters and some pink glitter (which is apparently non-toxic but also shouldn't be consumed, I do not get that!). Anyway, since I was really bored yesterday I decided to try and make the butterfly cookies the magazine shows you how to do. Here's how they turned out! :D (Sorry in advance for the rubbish photos, I took them on my Pod)

So this is them before they were iced....

And then, these are after they'd been iced! This was my first time doing anything like this, so I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out!

So, what do you think? My family reckon they taste nice, so quite happy with the way they turned out! We had some spare icing so I'm going to make some Muffins tomorrow to use it up, so there might be another post in a couple of days with more baking pictures!

Hope you all have a great day! :)

Thursday Book Challenge - Week 4

Hey! Welcome to week 4 of Thursday Book Challenge! I've only read 2 books this week, as I kept starting books and then hating them and then starting other books! You know what it's like. Also you'll be pleased to know that none of them have been any of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series!

So the first book I read this week is H.I.V.E (Higher Institute of Villainous Education) by Mark Walden. My cousin Charlie told me I should read this book after she had read it and I must say I really liked it! Different from other books I've read before. It's about kids who get kidnapped and taken to a school (H.I.V.E) and are taught to be the new and best villains of the future! Has definitely been a good read!

So, the second book I read this week is Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Again Charlie told me I should read this one after she read and really enjoyed it a few months ago! It's a book set in the future, where they think love is a disease and have a procedure to "cure" all citizens from the disease. I fell in love (lol) with this book and could not stop reading it! I loved the characters and ends differently to other books of this genre I have read before with a shock ending! I definitely recommend this book to anyone!

Okay, so that's all I've read this week so far. I'm hoping to read Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams and PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern (loved that film!) before the week is up so, I'll see you next week! Now head on over to Charlie's blog for more Thursday Book Challenge blogs! Feel free to join in, and I hope you have a nice day! Cya soon xx
