Thursday Book Challenge - Week 1!

Hey welcome to the first ever Thursday Book Challenge week! To find out more about this head over to An Accidental Knitter where it explains everything!

Okay, so I love reading, probably even more than I like crafty things! I haven't been reading very long, but I'm absolutely addicted! I aimed to read 50 books last year and reached that goal! So this year I'm aiming for 75, and to help me along the way me and my cousin came up with this challenge so we could talk about the books we read on here as well as the crafty things we both love to do!!

So this week I read The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe by Douglas Adams! It's the second in The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series! There's five of them I think. This one is a really good book! I loved it and preferred it to the first one!

I'm not going to go into to much detail about what happens because if you haven't read The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and are planning to read it one day, I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. It continues the story of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beetlebrox & Trillian! The characters are really good and the book in my opinion is even funnier than the first! I'm glad I decided to read this one and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Sci-Fi, and even if you don't, I would still read it as it is hilarious!

Okay, so now I'm reading TimeRiders - The Doomsday Code by Alex Scarrow.

This is the third in the TimeRiders series, so again I won't go into to much detail about what it's about so it won't spoil the others if you want to read it as well!

So basically the storyline is that in 2060 - something (I think, I can't remember the exact date) - Time Travel is invented, but the man who invented it saw something of which he never told anyone and got time travel banned because of the mess it causes. But people still use it, and so an agency is set up to stop time from being messed up. Liam O'Connor, Maddy Carter and Sal Virkam are all recruited just before they are about to die in their own times to work for this agency! And that is basically what the books are about, them trying to stop time from being messed up!

These books are very well written and I would definitely recommend these books to anyone again who likes Sci-Fi. Especially if you like Doctor Who or Stargate, you will definitely like these!

So I will probably finish this book soon and I am planning on reading Life, The Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams, the third in the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy! So I'll be here next week updating you on what I've read and have read! Until then, head over to Charly's Blog and feel free to join in The Thursday Book Challenge! Thanks, see you all later! :) x

Thanks for joining in Abby, great post! I think you're right, HH2 is definitely funnier than the third. If the next book is any funnier we might pull a muscle!

Wonder who will finish TimeRiders 3 first.... hehe x

The Hitchhikers guide series is brilliant. Though to be fair pretty much everything by Douglas Adams is brilliant! I might join in sometime with your challenge, but not quite yet. I just started on Middlemarch, which weighs in at over 700 pages in the paperback small print version. With the amount of reading time I'm getting at the moment I'd be posting on the same thing for the next month!

I've not gotten round as far as the Hitchhikers guide but will add them to the to read pile. I'm always on the look out for new and interesting reads. Really good challenge and I'm going to enjoy it.
